Zungri

Situated on the northern side of Porto, Zungri can be reached by car from all the towns on the Coast of the Gods and is 16 km far from Tropea.
The rock settlement called “Sbariati” and dated between the ninth and the twelfth century is interesting to visit.

The village consists of a central core and a myriad of cave-homes. The visit to this singular settlement is a must to discover how populations so distant in time from each other have realized their habitat. At the entrance to the path is the “Museum of Rocky and Peasant Civilization” with about 1000 finds from the Zungri farming civilization and a photo exhibition about the earthquake that devastated part of Calabria in 1905.
